Amazon: This is why our servers crashed

Web servers from Amazon, which powered several large services, including Instagram, Netflix and Pinterest, suddenly failed due to a peak in electricity in Amazon's North Virginia Data Center, as well as a bug their back-up generators causing them to crash.

The incident happened on last Friday, as many reacted via Twitter to vent their anger, before the social blogging network also crashed. Soon after that, RIM's BBM also crashed for some users worldwide, before coming back up a few hours later.
